What is the Faculty Scholarship Reception?
Great question. The Faculty Scholarship Reception is an annual event hosted by Library and Information Technology and the Provost’s office which recognizes the scholarly publications of Bucknell faculty and staff. Although the event was once held biannually, the combined event will allow us to concentrate on serving the campus in other ways. The event is an excellent time to read about your colleagues’ research, take note of broad academic trends, and chat with old and new friends.
How do I submit my published research?
Research may be submitted through the Bucknell Digital Commons Submit Research page.
Is submission to the Digital Commons required?
No, it is not required, however, we can only recognize submitted scholarship.
If it is not required and I’m not interested in recognition, why should I submit?
Submission of papers ensures that you are in compliance with Bucknell’s Open Access policy, and submission improves access to your papers. Even submission of records will help improve discoverability of your scholarship because the Digital Commons uses the OpenURL format to link from a Digital Commons record to our subscription databases. Submission also allows students and the greater academic community to see the scholarly output of Bucknell University.
My scholarship was published in 2019, but I was not recognized last year. Can I submit a record this year?
Of course! This is a celebration of your effort.
Will I be violating my publisher’s copyright if I submit?
Not if you are in compliance with your publisher’s policies. The site SHERPA/RoMEO may be referenced to determine your publisher’s copyright policies related to self-archiving. Many publishers allow scholars to publish post-prints (final drafts) and even publisher’s versions. You may also submit a record with the paper attached and select an embargo date to comply with your publisher’s copyright and self-archiving policy.
I just don’t have time to submit, can someone else do this?
We would love to manage all the submissions; we’re concerned about fullness and accuracy of the submitted records, and we prefer to work with structured data. Unfortunately, we do not have the staff to support the submission of hundreds of records in a couple short weeks. We need your help submitting so we can focus on search and discovery of resources.
I would like a copy of my book displayed at the event, where should I take it?
Please send a copy via campus mail to Monna Hosterman/Bertrand Library by March 15.
I missed the March 15 deadline, can I still submit?
Please contact Dan Heuer at dan dot heuer at bucknell dot edu.
